Code of Conduct

Fangcon is a place to have fun and enjoy yourself. It's a place to relax, unwind, and just be who you really are. That said, we have a responsibility to set some common sense ground rules to ensure that everyone has a good time. The rules on this page must be observed by all attendees (including staff) at all times during the convention – no exceptions. You are not entitled to a refund if you are expelled from the convention due to a violation of the rules.

Failure to observe the rules will result in penalties ranging from a warning to badge removal, depending on the severity of the offense. Badge removal will automatically occur after a third warning. The Executive staff will be the sole judges of the severity of rule infractions. Badge removal means immediate expulsion and exclusion from the convention and the convention area for the remainder of the convention. If you are caught breaking the law, the police will be called and it will become a police issue.

  • Always cooperate with staff. This includes FangCon security, FangCon staff, hotel security, and hotel staff. Failure to do so will be considered a violation of the rules.
  • Feel free to go to the convention staff or con security with any problems. We want a fun AND safe convention for everyone and that's what they're here for!
  • Your badge must be on your person and in a visible location at all times while in convention areas, even if you are wearing a fursuit. Replacement badges are $5. If someone is caught wearing someone else's badge, it is considered a severe breach of the rules and will be dealt with accordingly.
  • Valid, government issued photo ID is required for admittance to the convention – even if you preregister. You will be required to produce valid, government issued photo ID when you pick up your badge. Failure to do so will result in being denied access to the convention. Staff may also ask to see your ID at any point during the convention.
  • Attendees under 18 (minors) must have a responsible adult with them during registration and/or badge pickup in addition to a signed parental/legal-guardian consent form. The responsible adult must bring valid, government issued photo ID or the minor attendee (and adult) will be denied access to the convention. FangCon may record information from the ID for the safety of the minor. Minors will receive a special colored badge.
  • Minors under 13 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times anywhere in or on hotel property, including while in the convention area.
  • Minors will not be admitted to any "adult only" events, regardless of whether there is a responsible adult with them at the time or not.
  • Minors caught breaking the rules will have penalties levied against both them and the adult responsible for them.
  • All attendees and staff must abide by all applicable laws at all times. This includes (but is not necessarily limited to) the city laws and the State of Tennessee.
  • No means NO. Period, end of conversation. If someone says "no" you need to respect that.
  • Weapons of any type are not allowed in any convention areas, no exceptions. If you are caught with a weapon, it is a zero tolerance offense. All items with the appearance of weapons must be peace-bonded and presented to FangCon security staff for inspection and approval. Violations of this rule are treated very seriously and will result in immediate badge removal and expulsion from the convention.
  • Harassment of any kind toward a convention attendee or staff member is a zero tolerance offense. Your badge will be removed and you will be expelled from the convention. If someone asks you to leave them alone or says "no" to any advances, you absolutely must respect their wishes. If someone is harassing you, please notify security staff immediately.
  • Open alcoholic beverages are not allowed in the common areas except in the hotel bar.
  • Underage drinking is a zero tolerance offence. If you are caught drinking underage, or are caught facilitating underage drinking, your badge will be removed and you will be expelled from the convention.
  • Public intoxication is against the law in Tennessee. Please be responsible if you are going to drink.
  • Being in possession of or under the influence of illegal substances is a zero tolerance offense. If you are caught your badge will be removed and you will be expelled from the convention.
  • Keep all public displays of affection family-friendly. Non-sexual kissing, hugs, and back scratching are examples of family-friendly displays of affection. Any overt public displays of affection that are contrary to a family-friendly environment are prohibited.
  • Public nudity or obscenities in violation of any local, state law(s) will be considered a severe violation and will result in immediate badge removal and expulsion from the convention areas. All costumes, fursuits, artwork, displays, and models are subject to the same laws and, when necessary, must be appropriately censored or obscured in accordance with the law(s). Using painters tape or post-it notes over explicit parts of adult artwork are examples of appropriate censorship. Artwork in closed binders or notebooks does not need to be censored, but it is your responsibility to ensure only adults view your work. Keep an eye out for minor badges.
  • Overt displays of BDSM, bondage, and/or fetish gear are prohibited within any public indoor or outdoor area of the hotel, within the entire convention space, and within any convention activity area. Examples of prohibited displays include, but are not limited to, wearing leashes, wearing diapers, and/or carrying whips. Such displays may also violate local, state, and/or federal law(s). Please keep all such activity to private rooms only. Collars are acceptable to wear in public areas.
  • Pictures taken at the convention may be used for personal use only. As a courtesy, you should ask for permission before taking pictures of anyone.
  • Pictures may not be used for professional purposes or broadcast media without the express written permission of the FangCon organizing board. Anyone responsible for violating this rule will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
  • Members of the press or news media employees, in any capacity, are not allowed in the convention or hotel areas unless they have specifically requested and have been issued a press pass by the FangCon organizing board.
  • Individuals or groups granted a press pass must visibly identify themselves as "Press" at all times while in the convention and hotel area.
  • Press are required to request the permission of any and all individuals for interviews, photos, film, video, or any other activity intended for public release or broadcast.
  • Any individual granted a press pass must also purchase a member registration in order to receive a badge for access to the convention.
  • You will be held liable for any injuries and/or property damage caused by your conduct and/or negligence.
  • Refunds are not available after the pre-registration period ends.
  • All rules listed on this website (including the rules regarding harassment) apply equally to members of the press, other visitors to the convention, or any individual within the convention area with the exception of hotel staff.

We ask that you read the above rules thoroughly and observe all of them throughout the convention. Doing so will ensure that everyone has a fun, safe, and enjoyable experience at FangCon!
